What is broaching?
Broaching is a type of mechanical work involving the removal of chips of material through a special tool with multiple cutting edges, called “broach”. This tool progressively removes material in order to obtain the desired outline and dimensions with speed and high precision.
How broaching works
The broach passes through a pre-existing hole, gradually removing material until the desired shape is obtained: square holes, keyways and complex shapes. The use of machinery that’s periodically checked and maintained ensures repeatability and high quality.
